Ingredients

Servings:
4

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (I use ground round)
  • 1/2 cup Tomato sauce (plain, no added spices)
  • 1 cup Beef broth (I use Better Than Bouillon)
  • 1 package Taco shells or corn tortillas

Seasonings & Spices

  • 2 tbsp Chili powder (I like mine with some kick)
  • 1 tbsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper

Optional Add-ins

  • 1/2 White onion (diced) – optional
  • 2 Tomatoes (diced) – optional
  • 1 bunch Fresh cilantro (chopped) – optional
  • 1 cup Mexican cheese blend (shredded) – optional

Instructions

1

Add ground beef to a med-high frying pan and cook until browned and fully cooked. Don't overcook it! Remove from heat and drain the fat from the pan. Or don't drain it... I'm not judging.

2

Turn stove to med-low. Add tomato sauce, all the spices, and beef broth to the meat. Stir until well combined and it smells amazing. If it dries out too much, add some water and cook it down.

3

Simmer the taco mixture until it's the right consistency for your taco vessel. No right or wrong answer here. Finish it off however you prefer.

4

Follow the directions for heating your taco shells. If using tortillas, warm them up so they don't fall apart when shaping. Sometimes I pan-fry my tortillas, and sometimes I place a damp paper towel over a stack of them and microwave for 20-30 seconds.

5

Assemble your tacos however you like. Seriously, if you don't know how to fill a taco, I'm not sure what we're doing here. Enjoy!

👨‍🍳 Paul's Notes

Once you're hooked on making these, get yourself a taco holder for the oven. Game changer.
